Provided one-to-one support to 22 HIV/Development National Professional Officers and organized an NPO-specific HIV and Development workshop. Organized a facilitated study tour for Vietnamese authorities to Thailand and the Philippines to promote civil-military cooperation in responding to the HIV epidemic and served as the liaison person with the Civil-Military Alliance to Combat HIV and AIDS. I also authored and presented paper on "HIV in Military Populations" at the Third International Conference on AIDS in 1995.

UN Volunteer

Botswana National AIDS Program
Botswana

Designed, managed and evaluated projects with sex workers, truck drivers and out- of-school youth. Developed innovative Information Education and Communication (IEC) strategies including Community Drama, Peer Education with men-in-sport and the 1993 Puppets Against AIDS tour. Served as lead author of the national IEC strategy and the HIV/AIDS IEC manual.

1990 – 1992

HIV and Drugs Worker

Designed and implemented an expanded outreach HIV prevention service for injecting drug users. Worked with radio and print media to advocate for changes in policy and attitudes towards drug use, HIV/AIDS and homelessness. Provided face- to-face and telephone counseling to HIV positive drug users and served as the drug services liaison person with HIV testing, counseling and treatment services.

Provided a counseling, advice and advocacy service to offenders, both adult and juvenile, in prison and the community. Designed and implemented an Alcohol Education Course for offenders. Authored Social Inquiry Reports for the criminal and civil courts.
